There is a simple mindset shift that you can use right away that will change your life and change your day. I want you to begin to be expectant.
Being Expectant
Psalm 5:3 says, “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” The psalmist knew how important it was to start everyday being expectant for the Lord. When we are wise and do the same thing, we will begin to see a shift in our mindset that will change our focus.
Every morning, I wake up expecting greatness. Greatness from myself, from those around me, and most importantly from the Great One.
God is actively working every single day, multiple times a day, in our lives. And if we’re not living expectantly, watching to see what He’ll do, then we end up living on autopilot.
Autopilot vs. Intentionality
Don’t accept the idea of living on autopilot, waking up every morning and doing the same thing over and over. Going to work, taking kids to school, cooking dinner, watching TV, going to bed, then waking up and doing it all over again. None of those things are wrong, but we can get caught in the day to day things and we miss what He wants to show us.
When we live expectantly, instead of doing those things on autopilot, we are more aware of those moments and we begin to do all these things on purpose. Living intentionally. Expecting God to move in our lives makes us more aware of the things He’s doing every single day. Living expectantly is the first step towards living out God’s best for our lives.
Don’t settle. Expect greatness. Here’s your challenge, each morning, wake up with a sense of expectancy. Say to the Lord, “God, I’m ready to see greatness. I’m expecting you to move in my life today. However You want to do that, I’m expecting that from You today.”
This mindset change helps us start our day living with intention.
